Thank you for your interest in joining the UCL Folklore Society committee. We currently have four positions available. Please answer these questions and we’ll be in touch soon! Please note, these are interim positions; you will have to formally nominate yourself at the November / Term 1 by-elections.
Outreach Officer
- Collaboration: Build relationships with other societies, organisations, and academics so we can host a variety of collaborative events.
- Recruitment: Help us reach new members and encourage student engagement; potentially organise outreach events and support the society at events like the Welcome Fair to attract potential members.
- Promotion: Create awareness and advertise the society’s activities.
- Event Planning: Everyone on our society does their bit to help plan and deliver events, so you’d be expected to bring some new ideas to the table too!
Events Officer
The responsibilities of Events Officer include:
- Event Organisation: Plan, manage, and execute a wide range of events, from lectures and workshops to socials. You’ll take the lead in event scheduling and logistics.
- Creativity: Contribute fresh and innovative ideas for events that align with the society’s goals and engage a variety of members.
- Coordination: Work closely with other committee members to ensure the smooth running of all events.
Social Media Officer
The responsibilities of Social Media Officer include:
- Content Creation: Manage the society’s social media presence by creating engaging posts, stories, and updates to promote upcoming events and activities, all in keeping with our established the themes and aesthetic.
- Growth: Help grow our online following and engage more students by maintaining a consistent and exciting online presence.
- Event Promotion: Work closely with the Events Officer to promote society events, ensuring maximum visibility and attendance through various social media channels.
- Community Engagement: Engage with followers and members online by responding to comments, messages, and sharing relevant content from other societies.
Welfare Officer
The responsibilities of Welfare Officer include:
- Member Support: Be a supportive figure within the society, ensuring all members feel welcome, included, and valued.
- Inclusive Environment: Help create a safe and inclusive atmosphere at all society events, ensuring the wellbeing of all members is considered in our activities.
- Accessibility: Ensure that events and resources are accessible to all members, identifying and addressing potential barriers to participation. Work with the Events Officer to identify content warnings for events and film screenings where necessary.
- Resources: Offer guidance and signpost members to university and external support services when needed, acting as a point of contact for welfare concerns.
